Mir: “I am very happy and looking forward to this"
The new signing talks at his presentation
New Valencia CF forward Rafa Mir spoke on this Thursday after his return to the club was made official
Returning to Valencia CF
"I'm coming back home. First of all, I want to thank 4 people and institutions who have been very important for me getting here: The club, who made an incredible effort so that I could be here; Corona, as we have had many conversations for 1 year now; Baraja, who has been fundamental, and to my agent, who has managed the entire operation. It has been a very difficult operation after the way the situation was. It's thanks to them all that today I am here. I am very happy, I'm really looking forward to it and I hope that the moment comes when what everyone wants happens: That I score goals. I feel the confidence of Valencia CF, I have felt it for a long time and I am sure that if things go the way they have to go, I will play for Valencia CF for many years, because this is my home and I am very happy here.”
Sevilla FC
“Today is the day to talk about Valencia CF. On this beautiful day in which I am returning home. As for Sevilla FC, we will talk about them more later on.”
Last season
“I'm not going to deny that it has been hard. I have had to change my mindset, adapt to each situation that has come about, but I'm glad that in the end everything turned out well. Everything has ended where it had to end, which is with me at home and with that desire to be here. We have all made a great effort and I am where I wanted to be."
Valencia CF
“The image that Valencia CF give off is what they have to give, which is that of a big club. From there, everything is moving forward. There is a new project, a strong coach, clear ideas and adapting to the situation that exists. Valencia CF will always be a big club, and that is the most important thing."
Baraja
“For me, he has been very important since I was a child. We coincided at Juvenil level, which was a very nice season where I was able to score many goals. I began to feel confidence, he made me grow as a player and he has been a very important factor for me to be here today. His affection and his desire to have me alongside him has been very important in the decision and I hope to repay him by doing my best. I saw him this morning and we talked for a while. We have a great understanding and I am sure that I will push hard to get the best of myself, and I have all the desire in the world for it to work out. I'm coming off a tough year in which I wanted to be here, play for the team, at home, at Valencia CF. There are young people here, with desire and ambition, and that is the way forward. The project is going to be this: People who want to work, young people who are very hungry and together we can all achieve something nice, which is to make Valencia CF be great as it has always been, as I and everybody else remembers the club.”
Individual goals
“I never set a figure for myself. I come here with great desire, enthusiasm, with goals that I've been saving for 6 months -and I hope to get them.”
Hugo Duro
“The better things go for him, the better things are going to go for us. The team always comes first. He is a great player, he gives a lot to the team and I hope everything goes well for all of us.”
His heroes at Valencia CF
“I loved Villa and Soldado. They are players who I always had in mind and I have tried to take away the best from what they did. We have had great players throughout the history at of the club, and if I had to choose I would pick those two."
